Let’s have a blunt conversation, because that’s what we do here at Grandpa’s Rants. This time, we’re talking about gender in sports, and I’m going to say the quiet part out loud.
Here’s something you don’t often see in the headlines: biological women who identify as men dominating men’s sports. Ever wondered why? It’s not because they don’t exist. It’s not because they don’t try. It’s because, genetically and physically, male athletes on average have a competitive edge when it comes to speed, strength, and power.
That’s not an opinion. That’s just biology. Puberty, testosterone, muscle mass, bone density all those “inconvenient” facts no one wants to bring up anymore matter. That’s why we’ve had separate men’s and women’s leagues in the first place. It’s why Title IX exists: to ensure women had a fair shot at scholarships, participation, and a level playing field.
Now we’re seeing biological males who identify as women competing in women’s sports. And unsurprisingly, in many cases, they’re winning. Crushing records. Pushing actual women out of the top spots. And we’re supposed to pretend this is all perfectly fair and normal?
Here’s my problem: If we’re going to say that gender identity trumps biology in sports, then why not scrap the whole system? No more men’s sports. No more women’s sports. Just sports. Let people compete in one big pool. Winner takes all. But we all know what would happen then 95% of the top athletes would be biological males, regardless of identity. And the people Title IX was meant to protect the women would get left in the dust.
That’s the contradiction no one wants to touch. If sex differences didn’t matter, we never would’ve needed women’s leagues to begin with. But we do need them, and that’s why this matters.
I’m not anti-anyone. If you’re trans, live your life, be happy, be respected. But when it comes to competition where physical differences directly impact fairness biology has to matter, or the entire concept of women’s sports becomes a polite fiction. And if that’s what we want now, then let’s be honest about it. Let’s repeal Title IX, erase the gender categories, and let the chips fall where they may.
But if we still believe in fairness for female athletes, then we need to have the guts to draw a line. Not out of hate. Out of respect for science, for competition, and for the women who’ve fought like hell to earn their place on the field.
That’s my rant. Now tell me where I’m wrong.
